The NoMa (North of Massachusetts Avenue) Business Improvement District (BID) was created in 2007 as a public-private partnership to advance this former industrial warehouse district just north of the U.S. Capitol. While it had a Metrorail station and a new Federal agency headquarters, NoMa was considered “nowhere” by most people.
With a skeleton staff and budget, the BID hired LHB Communications, Inc. to create and implement a public relations program. During the BID’s first two years of operation, LHB obtained hundreds of media placements including a New York Times feature and extensive coverage by local TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, and blogs. These outstanding results helped transform NoMa into one of city’s hottest neighborhoods and one of the continent’s top destinations for institutional investment.
